Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Thursday met with Turkish ambassador to Iraq Faruk Kaymakci, government sources said.
According to the sources, the meeting tackled bilateral relations between the two neighbors.
At the meeting, al-Maliki welcomed recent rapprochement between Baghdad and Ankara and their respective efforts to bolster bilateral relations.
It was the first time in two years for the Iraqi premier to meet with a Turkish official.
Relations between Baghdad and Ankara have seen an improvement in recent months following one year of frosty relations due to regional developments.
