DOHA/SARAJEVO (AA) - International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) and Bosnian Party of Democratic Action (SDA) expressed support on Monday to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, calling Turkish people for a tight-knit unity and protection of Erdogan's government's achievements.
Headquartered in Qatar, International Union of Muslim Scholars issued a written statement on Monday, regarding Taksim Gezi Park protests in Turkey, calling on the Turkish opposition to respect the majority of Turkish people, be aware of foreign plots and avoid damaging personal and public properties.
Supporting precautions against social and moral corruption, the statement said "The ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party headed by Recep Tayyip Erdogan has taken successful steps in politics, economy and social life."
The statement also called for protection of Turkish government's great achievements, praising Erdogan's attitude displaying humanitarian concerns in the sense of ummah (Muslim community) towards incidents in Somalia, Syria, Iraq and other countries.
Following its consultation meeting, Bosnia-Herzegovina's Muslim Party of Democratic Action (SDA), formed by the late leader Alija Izetbegovic, also published a written statement saying "SDA openly and clearly supports Turkish Republic headed by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, its people and brother party AK Party."
The statement expressed SDA's hope for an immediate end to Taksim Gezi Park protests and incidents in Turkey.
"Turkish government headed by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has achieved extraordinary political and economic success within a short time, which will be proceeded by the existing stability. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is the symbol of resistance against pressure, retrieving the identity and Turkish people's pride and honor."
