International press organizations call for freedom for Turkish journalist Cuneyt Unal who was kidnapped in Syria.
Anthony Mills, Deputy Director at International Press Institute (IPI), expressed uneasiness over the acts of parties in Syria violating Geneva Convention and other human rights conventions.
Mills told AA that journalists were civilians too and they could not be shown as a legitimate target during clashes in Syria, adding that all journalists who were working in Syria were in great danger.
Mills called on Syrian governmental organizations to free the journalists they were withholding and to exert efforts to find the missing journalists in the country.
Regarding Turkish journalist Unal, Mills said that they were concerned about the health condition of Unal after they saw his state on Syrian television.
Syrian government should not forget that it was responsible from the security of Unal, he added.
Unal went missing on August 20 while working in Syria.
