ANKARA
Co-chairman of the People's Democratic Party (HDP) Ertugrul Kurkcu said they had kept their belief permanent concerning the fact that a judicial way existed to remove captivity of five detained deputies of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), adding they had pushed this way.
Evaluating the decision of a court which refused the request of freeing the detained BDP deputies, Kurkcu said, "We consider this [decision] as a defiant one and courts cannot make such decisions."
Expressing they would continue the hunger strike till the end of budget debates, Kurkcu also said they would attend the works of the General Assembly as well.
Five members of BDP are Selma Irmak (Sirnak), Faysal Sariyildiz (Hakkari), Ibrahim Ayhan (Sanliurfa), Gulser Yildirim (Mardin) and Kemal Aktas (Van) who were detained in 2009 and 2010 on charges of having links to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
