A deputy of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party from the southern province of Antalya and former President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Mevlut Cavusoglu said on that Turkey and Antalya needed more golf courses to facilitate 12 months of tourism.
Speaking at a press conference at the Belek town's The Montgomerie Maxx Royal Golf Club, which was designed by renowned Scottish golfer Colin Montgomerie, Mevlut Cavusoglu said that golf gained high importance in Turkey in recent years.
"The Turkish government attaches high importance to golf. The Turkish Golf Federation makes efforts to promote golf in Turkey and train new golfers," Cavusoglu stressed.
Cavusoglu thanked Colin Montgomerie for designing one of the best golf courses of Europe in Belek.
Renowned Scottish golfer Montgomerie said that he came to Antalya with his family for the first time for holidays.
"I will talk about our vacation in Belek when we return to our country," Montgomerie said.
Asked if the golf course he designed in Belek may win an award, Montgomerie stated that the Belek golf course was not rated yet.
