At least 185 kg of cocaine seized in Istanbul

ISTANBUL

Turkish police have seized 185 kilograms (408 pounds) of cocaine in an operation in Istanbul, an official said on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, anti-drug teams of the police launched an operation at an Istanbul port on Feb. 21 and searched a container said to have bananas from Ecuador, said the official, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

The search uncovered amount of cocaine, the official added.
