ANKARA
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday said "For the past two years, the Syrian people are getting butchered by a dictator with all kinds of war machines. Bombardments, tanks and artilleries. He has got children and a wife. They were our friends whom we met with our families but everything has changed immediately. We then crossed them off our list. Those who persecute their people can not remain our friends".
Prime Minister Erdogan's comments came at the Moral Rights Workers Union (Hak-Is) on Thursday as he was delivering a speech on global women's work on the occasion of March 8 International Women's Day.
"Every day, women and children are getting killed in Syria. Unfortunately, this is not sufficient to take the world's attention," Erdogan underlined.
"Words can not solve this issue. It requires actions and implementation. With such a double standard, you can not facilitate a global struggle for rights. There could be no global solidarity with such pre-conceived notions and black propaganda," Erdogan emphasized.
"We wish to see the women of the West enter a phase of common struggle to end this tragic picture in the East. It is the mothers who know the pain and scream of mothers and love for children. It is the women who can best understand the feelings of women," Erdogan also said.
