Ten PKK terrorists have been killed in southeast Turkey’s Diyarbakir and Sirnak provinces, Turkish military announced Monday.
According to the Turkish General Staff, four PKK terrorists were killed and 16 improvised explosive devices were defused in Diyarbakir’s Sur district Sunday.
A total of 264 terrorists have been killed and 345 explosives defused in Sur since operations began in the district in December last year.
Also, six other PKK terrorists were killed and 18 explosives were defused in Sirnak’s Idil district Sunday; several weapons were also seized, the military said.
Meanwhile, 24 suspected Daesh terrorists were detained while they were attempting to enter Syria from Turkey's Gaziantep province, it added.
Turkey's southeast has been the scene of a significant military operation since December.
The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July 2015.
Since then, more than 280 members of the security forces have been martyred and thousands of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
