Ruling party’s candidate declares victory in Istanbul

ISTANBUL

Turkey's ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party candidate for Istanbul mayor Binali Yildirim declared victory in the local polls on Sunday.

"We won elections in Istanbul," Yildirim said.

"We thank the people of Istanbul for handing in the duty to us," he added.
