ANKARA
Turkish Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim expressed hope that Turkey would soon sign an air transportation agreement with Costa Rica which had been on the agenda for the last ten years.
Prior to his meeting with Costa Rica's Minister of Foreign Relations Jose Enrique Castillo, Yildirim said that he previously attended Caribbean countries' economic cooperation meeting, and all Caribbean countries extended the support Turkey asked for its non-permanent membership to UN Security Council.
Yildirim said that Turkey and Costa Rica shared similar views in international matters, adding that mutual visits between the two countries would start a new period in the aspect of trade volume which was currently under 100 billion USD.
Through the air transportation agreement which will be signed between Turkey and Costa Rica, direct flights can be held to Caribbean region, he said.
Castillo said that there were some opportunities for Turkish companies in Costa Rica, adding that those companies could make investments and open factories in free zones.
Castillo noted that investments could be made in infrastructure, roads, dams and telecommunications areas.
