Mine blast injures soldier in eastern Turkey

ERZURUM, Turkey

A Turkish soldier was injured in a mine blast during search and sweep activities in the country’s eastern Agri province on Monday.

The mine was planted by PKK terror group in Dogubayazit district of the province.

Murat Bozkurt, the solider who suffered injuries in his hands, was rushed to a state hospital in Erzurum province.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women and children.
