Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day with an increase of 0.78% at 96,031.83 points on Tuesday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 95,461.86 points. As of closing, it gained 745.65 points from Monday's close of 95,286.18 points.

The benchmark index hovered between 95,313.97 and 96,582.78 points during Tuesday's trading.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 639.6 billion Turkish liras ($114.7 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 5.4 billion Turkish liras ($959.7 million).

On the second transaction day of the week, 65 stocks on the index rose, 26 were down, and nine were flat compared to the previous close.

The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.

The highest trading volumes were posted by Garanti, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and Akbank.

The day's best performer was energy company Ipek Dogal Enerji, with its shares up 8.24%, while stocks of IT company Indeks Bilgisayar dropped the most, down 5.40%.

The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,503.15 by market close, up from $1,496.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $59.25 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Tuesday.
