Ukrainian athlete Oleksii Novikov won the 2020 World's Strongest Man title, local media reported on Monday.

According to Ukrinform news agency, the 24-year-old athlete won this year's title in Sunday's competition held in US' Florida, lifting a 537.5-kilogram (1,185 pounds) bar in the partial deadlift.


It said that Novikov set a world record with this weight and also became the youngest athlete to earn this title.

The World's Strongest Man championship was launched in 1977.

The annual contest have many branches such as deadlift, squat, vehicle pull, lifting stones and power stairs. The US hosts the event.
