ANKARA
Turkey's highest football division Spor Toto Super League's ninth week ended on Sunday night.
Leader Fenerbahce won 2-1 against 10-man Caykur Rizespor at its Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul, on Saturday. Fenerbahce's Czech defender Michal Kadlec found the net twice, once with an own goal. With 10 minutes to go, Fenerbahce forward Pierre Webo scored the winning goal for his team. In addition, the Istanbul team's Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt missed a penalty.
Meanwhile second-place Galatasaray toppled Kardemir Karabukspor 2-1 in an away game. Visiting team Galatasaray's Cameroonian centre-back Aurelien Chedjou scored an early opener in the third minute. However Kardemir Karabukspor replied back with Eren Gungor in the second half. Galatasaray won thanks to its Turkish striker Umut Bulut's goal in the 71st minute.
At third place in the league table, nine-man Besiktas managed to come back against Istanbul's Basaksehir in an away match on Sunday. Besiktas won the battle 2-1, Senegalese striker Demba Ba scored the equaliser, and Turkish-Swiss winger Kerim Frei saved the day for Besiktas.
Two Besiktas defenders, Pedro Franco and Ismail Koybasi were sent off in second half, so they will be suspended for the next league match.
Trabzonspor defeated Torku Konyaspor 3-2 at Huseyin Avni Aker Stadium on Sunday. Trabzonspor's Paraguayan target man Oscar Cardozo found the net twice.
