ANKARA (AA) - September 24, 2012 - Turkish motorcycle racer Kenan Sofuoglu won the 2012 World Supersport Championship.
Finishing Sunday's race at Portugal in second place earned him his third title in the championship with one event ahead of the season's closing.
Sofuoglu came in second behind the PTR Honda of Jules Cluzel at Partimao on Sunday, however, the result was enough for Sofuoglu to reach his third middleweight crown.
After having a major knee operation, losing his grandma and taking his first place back during this year competition, Sofuoglu was able to finish the season as champion.
While Sofuoglu reached 218 points, Jules Cluzel is on second place with 185 points and Fabian Foret is on third place with 160 points.
There is only one race to go in the 2012 Supersport World Championship and that will be held in France October 7.
Sofuoglu previously won the World Supersport Championship title in 2007 and 2010.
