Deportivo La Coruna, one of the deep-rooted football clubs in Spain, have been relegated to the third division late Monday.

This season’s last week games in the La Liga 2 have been held, but Deportivo's game against Fuenlabrada was postponed as seven players in Fuenlabrada tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Deportivo, who came 20th in La Liga 2 standings with 48 points, were relegated to the third league.

The Galician club's chair Fernando Vidal said that he wants Spanish football body repeat the last week games of all La Liga 2 clubs as the postponement decision "is not fair."

Vidal added that they will legally seek for their rights.

Founded in 1906, Deportivo won their only Spanish top-tier La Liga title in 2000. They claimed the Spanish Cup twice (1995 and 2002).

Deportivo's fans call themselves "Los Turcos" (The Turks) to refer a historical background against their arch rivals Celta Vigo.

The fans hang the Turkish national flag in the club's home matches.
