Morocco on Sunday got a shot in the arm with a 2-1 friendly win over FIFA's top-ranked side Brazil.

Sofiane Boufal brought the lead to the Atlas Lions in the 29th minute at Ibn Batouta Stadium at Tanca, Morocco.

Casemiro, Brazil's recently appointed captain, leveled the score in the 67th minute but Abdelhamid Sabiri scored for Morocco in the 79th minute and the game ended 2-1.

"We wanted to win after the World Cup and that's what happened. We're happy because it's the first time in history that Morocco has beaten Brazil. They top the FIFA rankings," said Morocco head coach Walid Regragui.

"This is the month of Ramadan, we have to go and pray Tarawih to confirm if it's true or not. Now we’re going to celebrate but it's a long way to go."

Brazil is the top-ranked team in the FIFA's Men's Football World Ranking with 1,841.3 points, while Morocco is at 22nd with 1,563.5 points.
