Mercedes win 5th consecutive F1 constructors' title

ISTANBUL

Mercedes claimed the constructors’ title for the fifth year in a row in Formula 1 after the champion of the season, Lewis Hamilton, won the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday.

The 20th race of the season in Formula 1 was run in Sao Paulo at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, a motor racing track of 4,309 kilometers (2,677 miles) in length, comprising 71 laps.

Mercedes secured the constructors’ title with 620 points followed by Ferrari with 553 points ahead of the last race of the season in Abu Dabi.

The champion of the season, Mercedes' British driver Lewis Hamilton, clinched 10 races, while Ferrari's German driver Sebastian Vettel was victorious in five races.

Hamilton was crowned champion in the Mexico GP on Oct. 28, his fifth title to level with Juan Manuel Fangio and Michael Schumacher.

Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull-TAG Heuer got two race wins so far, with Dutch Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen each got one victory.

The season's last race will be held in Abu Dabi Grand Prix on Nov. 25.
