French F1 driver Jules Bianchi's medical status is "critical but stable" following his horrific crash during Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix.
A spokesperson for the International Automobile Federation, Matteo Bonciani, told AP in a phone interview on Monday: "Bianchi is in a serious but stable condition and that's all I can say, and I'm doing this update on Jules' parents' behalf."
According to a report issued by the FIA, the Marussia F1 team's 25-year-old driver lost control of his car which hurtled off the track and hit the back of a recovery vehicle which was being used to tow away Sauber F1 team driver Adrian Sutil's car which had hit the barriers.
It was reported that Bianchi was unconscious when he was taken to hospital from the Suzuka circuit.
