Manchester United qualify for last 16 in Champions League

ANKARA

Manchester United booked their place in the UEFA Champions League last 16 on Tuesday with a 2-0 win against Villarreal in a Group F match in Spain. 

The English club broke the deadlock in the 78th minute as Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo lobbed the ball over Villarreal goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli.

That was all Manchester United needed buy near the end of the match, Jadon Sancho fired a right-footed shot that hit the underside of the bar and went in.

Manchester United clinched a spot in the upcoming Round of 16 in the Champions League.

Man Utd are leading the group with 10 points in five matches.

In the next fixture, they will take on the Young Boys at Old Trafford on Dec. 8 to conclude the group stage.

Following the loss, second-place Villarreal have seven points in Group F.

In the other match of the group, Atalanta are currently facing the Young Boys.  

Bayern beat Dynamo Kyiv in snow match

Group E leaders Bayern Munich beat Dynamo Kyiv 2-1 in a snowy match held at NSC Olimpiyskiy in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv.

The visitors' Polish star Robert Lewandowski scored a classy goal via an overhead kick in the 14th minute as Bayern Munich took the lead.

French forward Kingsley Coman made it 2-0 for the German powerhouse in the 42nd minute.

In the 70th minute, Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Denys Garmash scored to name the result.

Bayern Munich, who have already qualified for the last 16, collected 15 points after winning all their matches.

Underdogs Dynamo Kyiv have one point at the bottom of Group E.

Second-place Barcelona are now playing against Benfica at home.
