2020 German football champions Bayern Munich on Friday acquired Leroy Sane from English club Manchester City.

"The 24-year-old has put his name to a five-year contract until 30 June 2025 and will start preparing for the upcoming season in Munich next week," Bayern Munich said on its website, welcoming the German winger.

"FC Bayern is a great club with big goals – and these goals suit me as well. I'm looking forward to the new challenge and can't wait to train with the team," said Sane of his new home.

Sane is a former Schalke player but made his way to Manchester City in summer 2016.

He helped Man City win back-to-back English Premier League titles in 2018 and 2019.

Sane scored 39 goals and produced 45 assists in 135 appearances for Man City.
