ANKARA

Reigning champions Galatasaray will face Demir Grup Sivasspor on Friday as Turkey’s top-tier football league resumes following the international break.

The opening match of the eight week will kick off at Galatasaray’s home ground Turk Telekom Stadium in Istanbul at 1730GMT.

Galatasaray currently rank on the 10th place with 10 points, seeking to end their poor form this week.

The lions have gone winless in the last three games, gaining only two wins in the Super Lig this season.

Moreover, Galatasaray are not the only Istanbul club disappointing their supporters with their weak start for the season.

Turkish Super Lig's top Istanbul clubs -- Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas -- have made history with their exceptionally poor performance so far.

All three Istanbul teams recorded their worst performance at the end of first seven league matches since the 1979-1980 season.

Fenerbahce are on the fifth place with 11 points following three wins and two draws. On Sunday, the Yellow Canaries will face Yukatel Denizlispor in an away game.

Besiktas managed to collect only eight points with two victories, two draws and three defeats so far. They are on the 12th spot.

MKE Ankaragucu will take on Besiktas at the Eryaman Stadium in Ankara on Saturday.
