BELGRADE, Serbia
Police found a grenade on the rooftop of a stadium in the Serbian capital of Belgrade where a Europa League match was scheduled to be played Thursday.
The Serbian Interior Ministry said in a statement that the grenade was found on the roof of the Rajko Mitic Stadium, where the Serbian team, Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade), would host the Kazakh team, Kairat Almaty.
The statement said that the “rusty hand grenade” was found during routine checks.
The match between Red Star Belgrade and Kairat Almaty for the first round of the Europa League Qualifications has not been postponed and will be played as planned at 1845 GMT.
