ISTANBUL
Turkish club Besiktas' Senegalese striker Demba Ba has sustained an injury during the league match against Trabzonspor.
Team doctor Ertugrul Karanlik told the Istanbulite club's official TV channel BJK TV on Tuesday that Demba Ba had taken a hit on his right foot during the first half against Trabzonspor on Sunday and then had difficulty in continuing the match.
The scans done after the match confirmed that Ba had sustained a broken toe in his right foot, added the doctor.
"He feels pain when he takes a step. We are trying to cure it with drugs. He has to rest,” Karanlik said.
It is expected that the Senegalese striker will miss his team's two upcoming matches -the Europa League match against Tottenham on Thursday and the league game against Gaziantepspor this weekend.
In addition to Ba, Besiktas' Turkish forward Mustafa Pektemek is also suffering from an injury. Mustafa collided with Trabzonspor center-back Essaid Belkalem in the air injuring his nose and his cheekbone.
The club’s doctor said that the Turkish player was in a good condition but had to stay at the hospital for a few days.
He also added that Mustafa Pektemek is going to be out of action for almost two or three months
