BERLIN
Philipp Lahm, captain and right-back of defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, is out for around three months due to a fractured ankle, the club said on Tuesday.
According to the written statement made on the German club's website, Lahm was hurt during a training session on Tuesday morning.
Furthermore, club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt confirmed that Lahm's right ankle was fractured and will be operated on immediately.
It is estimated that 31-year-old Lahm will be sidelined for almost three months.
Bayern Munich's experienced skipper Philipp Lahm had announced his retirement from international football after Germany's 2014 FIFA World Cup victory in Brazil.
