SANAA

Kidnappers have released Dutch journalist Judith Spiegel and her husband after six months in captivity in Yemen, the Yemeni Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
"Arrangements are currently underway between Yemeni authorities and the Dutch embassy in Sanaa for the couple's return to the Netherlands," read a statement on the ministry's website, citing an unnamed security official.
The statement provided no details about the circumstances of the couple's release, the identity of the perpetrators, or whether any kind of deal had been struck with the kidnappers.
After having been kidnapped in Sanaa in June, the Dutch couple appeared in a video, pleading for help, one month later. At the time, security sources had said that the kidnappers had demanded a $10 million ransom for the couple's release.
Spiegel works for Radio Netherlands Worldwide and is also a teacher at Sanaa's Lebanese University.
She has lived in the country since 2009.
