U.S. Vice President Joe Biden met respectively with Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao and President Xi Jinping in China on Wednesday.
Biden firstly met with the Chinese vice president following an official welcoming ceremony at the Great Hall of the People. During the meeting, Li said the US President Barack Obama and the Chinese president held a meeting in June, 2013.
Stating he hoped a mutual respect for basic interests and great concerns between Beijing and Washington, Li said that they wanted to deepen any concrete cooperation with US in every domain.
Biden stated relations between the two countries have great influence in the world, adding Washington was committed to high-level engagement with China and differences between the two countries should be managed 'candidly and constructively' in order to progress new model of relations.
Biden later met with the Chinese President Xi Jinping and said he hoped a progress in development of confidence and cooperation between the two countries at the beginning of the meeting.
Noting the world was undergoing elaborate changes, Xi expressed the only correct choice for them is to enhance dialogues and cooperation.
Underlining of boosting pragmatic cooperation and coordination over global and regional issues, the Chinese president said sensitive topics and differences should be discussed properly in order to ensure sustainable and healthy growth of bilateral ties.
Meanwhile, Biden initiated an Asia trip after China had set up air defense and recognition zone in East China Sea, and firstly had his official talks in the capital Tokyo of Japan. The US vice president is expected to depart for South Korea after completing his talks in Beijing.
Concerning Biden’s remarks to Japanese media stating that they are deeply concerned about China’s unilateral moves Hong Ley said “We ask foreign aircrafts flying through the East China Sea ADIZ to report flight plans so as to get the dynamic information in the airspace and prevent miscalculation. That is how we can better uphold security of China's territorial land and airspace and maintain the flight order and security in the relevant airspace.”
After China set up its East China Sea ADIZ, a majority of airlines from relevant countries and regions that have flights flying across the identification zone have reported their flight plans to China. “So far, all together 55 airlines from 19 countries and 3 regions have reported their flight plans to China. We appreciate their constructive attitude and their understanding and coordination. We believe that such practice is mutually beneficial,” said Hong.
