Putin to attend World Energy Congress in Istanbul

ASTANA, Kazakhstan 

Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the 23rd World Energy Congress in Istanbul due between Oct. 9 and Oct. 13, according to Russian Presidential Adviser Yuri Ushakov.

Ushakov announced Tuesday that Putin will meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Oct. 10.

Previously, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak said the congress was very important for Turkey and Russia, especially with regards to the Turkish Stream natural gas pipeline project.

The Turkish Stream will carry Russian gas to Turkey and Europe.

Anadolu Agency will be the Global Communication Partner at the World Energy Congress in Istanbul where global energy sector players will gather under the theme "Embracing New Frontiers".

A total of 250 speakers from 130 countries, along with over 7,000 delegates are expected to participate in the congress.
