At least one person was killed, another three people were injured and several buildings were damaged in Kobani, the Kurdish-populated city in Syria, after a weekend of clashes between Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants and Kurdish groups.
Anadolu Agency (AA) team filmed the destroyed regions of Kobani after Sunday’s clashes between ISIL and Kurdish groups intensified.
Numerous mortar shells fell on several buildings destroying them completely.
On Monday morning mortar shells continued to be dropped on the region, injuring four people.
Recent ISIL attacks in Syria have increased the flow of the country’s refugees to Turkey.
Around 150,000 mainly Kurdish refugees have taken shelter in Turkey since the country opened its border on September 19.
Meanwhile, the U.S.-led coalition against ISIL hit several targets in northern Syrian cities of Aleppo and Raqqah, the Local Coordination Committees of Syria told Anadolu Agency.
On Sunday coalition forces hit ISIL targets in Raqqah, Menbic and Deir ez-Zor in Syria.
ISIL has captured large swathes of land in Iraq and Syria, declaring what it calls a cross-border Islamic ‘caliphate,’ killing thousands and displacing millions in the two countries.
United States President Barack Obama authorized U.S. forces to conduct airstrikes on ISIL in Syria on September 10.
