One of the leaders of the Movement for Tawhid and Jihad in northern Mali, Abu ed-Derda al-Moritani on Saturday said that they decided to withdraw from the Gao city.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), al-Moritani indicated that they decided to withdraw from Gao as a tactic.
"We will not withdraw from Gao completely. A part of our militants will remain in Gao. We will not leave alone the French and Malian troops with their fake victory," al-Moritani also said.
