Deputy Head of Iraqi Turkmen Front Ali Hasim Muhtaroglu lost his life in a suicide attack in Iraq's Tuz Khurmatu district of Saladin province on Tuesday.
Two suicide bombers among demonstrators protesting violence, detonated the bombs on their bodies. Death toll reached 13 in total wounded 71 people wounded.
Aydın Maruf Selim, Irbil representative of Iraqi Turkmen Front, told Anadolu Agency that the attack targeted Turkmens.
Stating that there were big plots set up against Turkmens as usual, Selim said, "Turkmen Front is to hold an emergency meeting in Kirkuk. We will provide futher details in regards to the incident soon."
The road to Kirkuk was blocked to protest violence attacks against Turkmens in Tuz Khurmatu on Monday.
Ambulance hijacked
An ambulance carrying two of the wounded was hijacked following the suicide blast.
The ambulance was hijacked on the Dakuk-Tuz Khurmatu road, according to the information obtained by AA correspondents.
Security officials initiated wide-scope research to find the ambulance.
