ZAGREB, Croatia
Croatia’s next president will be determined by a run-off between Social Democratic Party candidate Ivo Josipovic and Croatian Democratic Union’s Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, initial results show.
Josipovic enjoys a narrow lead with 38.50 percent of votes, and is followed by Grabar-Kitarovic who has 37.17 percent.
Ivan Vilibor Sincic from Zivi Zid, a non-governmental organization, follows the two contenders with 16.44 percent of the votes, and Milan Kujundzic from Alliance for Croatia has 6.28 percent.
The voter turnout sits at 47.11 percent among the 3.8 million registered voters, as 99,61 polling stations have been processed.
The second round of the elections between Josipovic and Kitarovic will be held on January 11.
