ISTANBUL

The United Arab Emirates said Saturday it shot down 132 Iranian ballistic missiles and intercepted 195 drones since the start of an attack on its territory.

The Defense Ministry said 137 missiles were detected, with five falling into the sea, while 209 drones were tracked, including 14 that landed in UAE territory or waters, causing limited collateral damage.

The ministry said falling debris resulted in minor material damage in several civilian areas, adding that authorities secured affected sites and remain on high alert.

It described the attack as a dangerous escalation and said the UAE reserves the right to respond and take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and security.

The attacks on the UAE followed US and Israeli attacks on Iran early Saturday.
