ANKARA

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met in the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the United Arab Emirates, Turkish diplomatic sources said Friday.

No further information on the meeting was provided.

Fidan is on a tour to regional countries to discuss the ongoing war in the Middle East.

The tour came amid intensifying regional instability since a joint US-Israeli offensive on Iran started on Feb. 28, along with Tehran’s subsequent retaliatory strikes across multiple countries in the region, including Gulf states such as the UAE.

Since the start of the conflict, the UAE has intercepted 338 ballistic missiles and 1,740 drones, the country’s Defense Ministry wrote Friday on US social media company X.

Six civilians were killed, and 158 others – including citizens of the UAE, Egypt, and Türkiye – were injured, it added.
