The Syrian Turkmen Assembly on Wednesday expressed its appreciation for Ankara’s ongoing support for oppressed peoples in Syria.
In a statement, the assembly said that new hospitals and other facilities -- recently built in the Euphrates Shield area-of-operations -- had served to hearten the region’s residents.
Launched in 2016, Turkey’s Operation Euphrates Shield saw Turkish troops -- backed by the Free Syrian Army -- liberate large swathes of northwestern Syria from terrorist groups.
The Turkmen Assembly went on to assert that the military operation had succeeded in bringing security to the otherwise volatile region.
“The reopening of schools and official buildings, with Turkey’s help, is a rare example of fraternity -- a silver lining for other liberated areas and for those still awaiting liberation,” the assembly said in a statement.
“We are deeply grateful to Turkey and the Turkish people for their honorable stance against oppression,” it added.
