Stampede kills 31 in Iraq's Karbala
Iraqi Health Ministry says 31 people killed, more than 100 injured

BAGHDAD
The Iraqi Health Ministry said on Tuesday that at least 31 people were killed and 100 others were wounded in a stampede during a religious ceremony in the southern province of Karbala.
"At least 31 people were killed and 100 others injured in the incident," Health Ministry spokesman Saif al-Bader said in a statement.
Al-Bader pointed out 10 of the injured are in critical condition.
Previously, a security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Anadolu Agency that at least 31 people were killed and dozens others injured in a walkway collapse during the Ashura ceremony in Karbala.
