Socialist International convenes in Ramallah
Socialist International is umbrella for 162 organizations and political parties from around the world
RAMALLAH
The annual conference of Socialist International (SI) opened in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Tuesday with the participation of political parties from 25 countries.
Speaking during the opening session, Rawhi Fattouh, Commissioner for International Relations of Palestinian group Fatah, hailed the international participation of ruling and opposition socialist parties.
The participation "supports the Palestinian leadership in the face of the planned American peace plan, known as deal of the century," he said.
He underlined the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the borders occupied by Israel in 1967, and East Jerusalem as its capital.
In the conference, Palestine is being represented by Fatah, the Palestinian National Initiative party and the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front.
