Sirens sound in southern Israel in suspected drone infiltration
Alert triggered in Eilat because of suspected hostile aircraft, says Israeli newspaper
ISTANBUL
Air raid sirens sounded in southern Israel amid a suspected drone infiltration, according to Israeli media early Sunday.
The Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that an alert warning of hostile aircraft infiltration was activated in the city of Eilat.
The Home Front Command later said the alert concluded, saying “the incident has ended.”
On Saturday, the Yemeni Houthi group warned of escalation amid continued US-Israeli attacks on Iran. Nasr al-Din Amer, deputy head of the group’s media authority, said “the coming hours carry more surprises.”
The US and Israel launched an attack on Iran early Saturday, claiming it was meant to remove “threats” posed by the Iranian “regime.” In response, Iran targeted Israel and the US bases in the region with missiles and drones.
Israel declared a “special and immediate state of emergency” nationwide.
Iran, for its part, vowed a “harsh response” to aggression and launched missile barrages and drones toward Israel and US bases in the region.
