Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz on Tuesday received a message from Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported without divulging the message’s contents.

The missive was delivered to the Saudi monarch by Algerian Justice Minister Tayeb Louh at Riyadh’s Yamama Royal Palace, according to the SPA.

No further details were provided, however, regarding the message’s content.

Notably, Algeria has maintained neutrality in a months-long political standoff between Qatar and a four-nation Arab bloc led by Saudi Arabia.

Algiers has also expressed its support for ongoing Kuwaiti attempts to mediate the crisis.

In June, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain all abruptly cut diplomatic and commercial ties with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorist groups in the region.

Qatar, for its part, has denied the accusations, describing the attempts to isolate it as a breach of international law.
