Saudi king meets Iraq parliament speaker in Riyadh
The visit is the first by the Iraqi parliament speaker to Saudi Arabia
RIYADH
Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz held talks on Monday with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi in the capital Riyadh.
The talks tackled bilateral relations and prospects of cooperation between the two countries, the official SPA news agency reported.
Al-Halbousi arrived in Riyadh on Sunday on his first visit to the oil-rich kingdom since he was elected speaker of the Iraqi assembly in September.
His visit came upon an invitation from Speaker of the kingdom’s Shura Council, Abdullah bin Mohammed Al al-Sheikh.
Last month, Iraqi President Barham Salih paid a similar visit to Riyadh, where he met with the Saudi monarch and senior officials.
