Kuwait says air defenses destroyed 7 drones for violating country’s airspace
Radiation readings in airspace and territorial waters remain normal, says National Guard
ISTANBUL
Kuwait’s National Guard on Monday said that seven drones were shot down over the past 24 hours after they violated the country’s airspace.
A National Guard spokesperson said during a media briefing that the drones were detected and dealt with “in accordance with approved security procedures.”
He added that radiation readings in Kuwait’s airspace and territorial waters remain normal, noting that relevant authorities continue to monitor developments and take necessary measures to safeguard the country’s security.
The Government Communication Center explained in a statement that one of the drones was intercepted, another fell “outside the threat area,” and two others crashed in the country’s north without causing injuries or damage.
The center added that two unmanned aerial vehicles were also shot down “within areas of responsibility,” without giving further details.
According to the statement, authorities received five reports of falling debris following interception operations, bringing the total number of such reports to 397 since the start of the current escalation on Feb. 28.
Regional escalation has raged since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran since Feb. 28, killing so far around 1,200 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, which it says are targeting “US military assets.”
Some of these attacks have caused casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, including airports, ports, and buildings.
