Kuwait says 6 drones shot down in secured areas in 24 hours
National Guard reports interceptions as part of efforts to protect vital sites, counter threats
ANKARA
Kuwait’s National Guard said Saturday that six drones were shot down in the last 24 hours in areas under its security responsibility.
Official spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Dr. Jad’an Fadel, said on US social media company X that the Task Force “successfully shot down six drones in the past 24 hours in areas under its responsibility for securing.”
He said the interceptions are part of efforts “to enhance security, protect vital sites, and counter any potential threats.”
Fadel urged the public to comply with official guidance, saying authorities call on everyone “to adhere to the security and safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities.”
He added that the National Guard, in coordination with the army, police, and fire service, remains “fully prepared to address any threats and resolutely confront anything that aims to destabilize the country’s security.”
The statement emphasized that the efforts aim to ensure “the preservation of its sovereignty, security, and stability,” as well as the protection of national interests and resources.
No further details were provided on the origin of the drones or damage caused.
For nearly a month, the US and Israel have carried out an air offensive on Iran, killing more than 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damaging infrastructure, while disrupting global markets and aviation.
