Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways diverts operations to Saudi Arabia
Airline says its flights will land and take off from Qaisumah Airport in Hafr al-Batin
ISTANBUL
Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways diverted its operations on Sunday to Qaisumah Airport in Hafr al-Batin in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province due to the temporary closure of the country’s airspace, the state news agency KUNA reported.
The airline said the airport is located approximately two and a half hours from Kuwait.
“Arriving passengers can continue their journey by road into Kuwait, and departing passengers can travel to the airport by road, provided they possess a valid visa to enter Saudi Arabia,” it added.
Regional tensions have escalated since the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran last week, killing more than 1,200 people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and top military officials.
Tehran retaliated with barrages of missiles and drones targeting Israel and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
