An Israeli soldier was killed in the Israeli-occupied West Bank when a Palestinian man struck him in the head with a stone, the Israel army said Tuesday.
A military statement said the soldier, Amit Bin Egal, 21, from the army's Golani Brigade was killed during an overnight raid carried out to arrest a Palestinian in the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank.
The statement did not provide further details.
The Israeli army frequently conducts wide-ranging arrest campaigns across the occupied West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians.
