JERUSALEM

Israeli forces shelled a military post belonging to Palestinian group Hamas in the Gaza Strip after gunfire from the Palestinian territory, the military said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the army said shots were fired at Israeli forces at Israel’s border with the Gaza Strip.

It said an Israeli tank struck a Hamas military position in the northern Gaza Strip in response to the attack.

No injuries were reported.

There was no comment from Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, on the Israeli statement.
