Israel claims it attacked military space program development center in Iranian capital
Army alleges facility was involved in developing military space programs, including Chamran-1 satellite
JERUSALEM
Israel claimed Monday that it had targeted a center for developing military space programs in the Iranian capital Tehran.
In a statement, the army said that it had destroyed an Iranian compound allegedly used “to develop satellite attack capabilities in space.”
The army alleged that the facility was involved in developing military space programs, including the Chamran-1 satellite, which it said was built by Iran’s Defense Ministry and launched into space in September 2024 by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The Israeli military also said it struck another space research center affiliated with the Iranian Space Agency in Tehran last Friday.
There was no immediate comment from Iranian authorities on the Israeli claims.
Israel launched joint attacks with the US on Iran since Feb. 28, killing so far around 1,300 people, including former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, which it says are targeting “US military assets.”
