Two mortar shells strike Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone
BAGHDAD
Two mortar rounds rocked the heavily fortified Green Zone in Iraq’s capital Baghdad on Monday, landing near the U.S. embassy, according to security sources.
Military checkpoints close to the embassy were shut down following the attack.
There were no casualties or damage reported.
Iraqi militias have previously targeted the Green Zone, which houses the U.S. embassy.
