Internet blackout in Iran enters 2nd week: Monitoring group

Internet access across Iran remained severely restricted on Sunday as a nationwide blackout entered its second week, according to an internet monitoring group.

In a post published Sunday on the US social media company X, NetBlocks said the disruption had reached its ninth consecutive day.

“Update: It's Sunday morning in #Iran where the internet blackout continues into its second week, with the incident entering its ninth day at hour 192,” NetBlocks wrote.

The organization said that while the country’s technical network infrastructure remains operational, residents currently have access only to a tightly restricted domestic network.

More than 1,200 people, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and top military officials, have been killed and over 10,000 others injured in US-Israeli attacks on Iran since Feb. 28, according to Iranian official data.

Tehran retaliated by launching drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and Gulf nations that are home to US military assets.

The conflict has raised concerns about global energy supplies amid a sharp drop in maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route that carries about 20 million barrels of oil daily.
