Hezbollah said Thursday that it carried out 25 rocket and drone attacks targeting Israeli military sites, settlements and troop gatherings in northern and central Israel as well as positions near the border in southern Lebanon.

In separate statements monitored by Anadolu, the group said the attacks were carried out in response to ongoing Israeli strikes on dozens of Lebanese towns and cities, including Beirut’s southern suburbs.

Hezbollah said it launched multiple rocket and drone attacks on the Israeli town of Nahariya at different times during the day and also targeted Kiryat Shmona with rocket fire.

The group said it struck the Yaara barracks with loitering drones and targeted the Meron air control and surveillance base in northern Israel with drones, claiming the attack damaged one of the base’s radar systems.

It also said it targeted the headquarters of Israel’s Shayetet 13 naval commando unit at the Atlit base south of Haifa with “precision rockets.”

Hezbollah also said it carried out rocket attacks on Israeli air defense systems in Maalot-Tarshiha and targeted the settlements of Admit, Zar’it, Shlomi and Even Menachem as well as the Malkia military site with rockets and drones.

In central Israel, the group said it targeted the Beit Lid military base, which hosts training camps for the Nahal and Paratroopers brigades, with rockets.

It also said it struck the Glilot base, which hosts the headquarters of Israel’s military intelligence Unit 8200 near Tel Aviv, as well as air defense systems near the city of Caesarea.

In southern Lebanon, Hezbollah said it targeted gatherings of Israeli troops at several locations near the border including Merkaba, Blat, Tel al-Hamamess, Jabal Warda and Adaisseh using rockets and artillery shells.

On March 2, the Iran-allied group began attacking Israeli military sites in response to repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanon and the killing of Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a US-Israeli strike.

Israel retaliated by launching a military campaign on Lebanon, carrying out airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut and areas in the south and east of the country and on March 3 began a limited ground incursion in southern Lebanon.

According to Lebanon’s Health Minister Rakan Nasser El Din, the attacks have resulted in 687 deaths, including 98 children, and 1,774 injuries.
