ISTANBUL

The Bahrain Defense Force’s General Command said early Friday that it has intercepted and destroyed 114 missiles and 190 drones from Iran since the beginning of “the brutal aggression.”

In a statement published on the US social media platform Instagram, it underscored that the use of ballistic missiles and drones targeting civilian infrastructure and private property constitutes a “flagrant violation” of international humanitarian law and the UN Charter.

“These indiscriminate and heinous attacks pose a direct threat to regional peace and security,” the statement said.

Authorities have urged the public to ensure their safety, stay away from damaged sites and any suspicious objects, refrain from filming military operations or debris impacts, and obtain information only from official sources.

Regional tensions have flared up since Israel and the US launched a joint attack on Iran on Feb. 28, killing around 1,300 people and injuring over 10,000 others so far, according to Iranian authorities.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
